Dr McIntosh is a Paediatric ENT Specialist with a particular interest in airway obstruction, facial and dental development and its relationship to ENT airway problems, and middle ear disease. He also specialises in sinus disease and provides opinions on the benefit of revision of previous sinus operations. He is also passionate about Indigenous Health. He has undertaken advanced surgical training in ENT and Head and Neck Surgery and Paediatric training at Starship Children’s Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand.

Dr. McIntosh is an internationally recognised specialist in the field of the interplay between ENT and dentistry. He is the founder of one of the largest ENT services in Australia and runs the largest education service in the world for dentists and doctors on ENT. He also runs the online Facebook pages "ENT for dentists" and "ENT updates for the GP".

From a surgical point of view, he is one of the most experienced ENT surgeons in Australia in terms of day stay tonsillectomy, an avid proponent of adenoidectomy under vision, an advocate for the use of grommets suitable for swimming (so that in most cases plugs and wraps are not required), synthetic grafts for ear drum perforations for children as young as 3 years old, and advanced and modern nasal and sinus surgery techniques (as opposed to older style surgery). He is a highly regarded specialist amongst his peers, having treated many doctors own family members, such is the faith and trust endeared in his knowledge and skills.
