About this Event
All are welcome to join AIA Phoenix Metro AIA10 for a tour of the AC Hotel in Old Town Scottsdale on Wednesday, March 11. The tour will be led by the design-build team which includes: Doug Sydnor, FAIA, President at Douglas Sydnor Architect + Associates, Inc.; and Matt Halls, Project Manager at Okland Construction.
The AC Hotel Scottsdale Old Town is the first phase in the 3.5-acre Kimsey Mixed-Use Development, with the Phase II multifamily residential to follow later. This six-story hotel has 168 guest rooms; meeting spaces; roof-top fitness, swimming pool & bar; a future restaurant, and two subterranean parking levels. Exterior character was very influenced by the existing on-site and midcentury modern 1962 Kimsey Building by Ralph Haver. Historic Kimsey Building will remain and be adapted to new uses and amenities for the residents. This urban and infill hospitality project will be invaluable at revitalizing the Fifth Avenue Shopping District and Scottsdale Arts District in Scottsdale’s downtown. Construction will be completed in February 2026.
Attendees will receive 1.0 HSW LU from AIA.
Fees: Please register in advance as space is limited. This event is free for AIA members (Architects, Associates and Allied). Non-members can attend for $10.
