About this Event
Artificial Intelligence is revolutionising our lives, our public services and our economy in many ways. The rollout of AI needs to have public understanding and support in order to be sustainable.
This event looks at the outcome of the first comprehensive opinion poll in Northern Ireland on perceptions and attitudes towards AI, covering areas such as knowledge, types of use, skill levels, assessment of potential benefits and risks, and views on policy interventions.
This analysis serves as the basis for a wider discussion at the event on how to navigate the opportunities and risks associated with Artificial Intelligence, and what steps can be taken to build trust and provide proportionate regulation.
Discussion will focus on issues such as opportunities for the economy and the public sector, upskilling requirements, data management, and environmental considerations, plus also explore digital divides based on age, gender, socio-economic status, and region.
This event is hosted by the Strategic Policy Unit at Ulster University, and will feature, amongst other speakers, Stephen Farry, former Executive Minister and Member of Parliament, and now Professor of Strategic Policy.
