About this Event
Combining real filmmaking with AI
Most AI filmmaking looks impressive for three seconds and useless after that. This workshop is for filmmakers who want to use AI in a way that actually holds up inside a real project.
This workshop is for filmmakers who want something better.
At Cannes, during the film festival, filmmaker Blake Ridder will break down a practical AI filmmaking workflow built for real world projects. You’ll learn how to combine live action filmmaking with AI tools to create more ambitious, cinematic work without needing a massive budget, oversized crew, or endless post production time.
This is not a theory talk.
This is a live, practical workshop focused on how AI can actually support real filmmaking. You’ll see where it fits, where it falls apart, how to shoot with AI in mind, and how to blend real footage with AI in a way that still feels grounded and cinematic.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
• use AI to expand production value without making your work feel artificial
• combine live action footage with AI in a way that still feels cinematic
• plan concepts, shots, and visuals faster
• shoot footage that works better with AI later
• enhance scenes, backgrounds, inserts, and visual moments with AI
• avoid the obvious mistakes that make AI work look cheap
• build a practical workflow for indie films, commercials, proof of concepts, and cinematic content
• understand which tools are useful, which are overhyped, and where each one actually fits
WHY THIS WORKSHOP IS DIFFERENT
There’s a lot of noise around AI right now.
A lot of it is hype. A lot of it is gimmicky. A lot of it falls apart the second you try to use it on a real project.
This workshop is built around a more useful question:
How do you actually use AI as a filmmaker without losing realism, story, control, or taste?
Blake’s approach is based on combining real filmmaking with AI, not replacing filmmaking with prompts. The goal is not to make soulless content faster. The goal is to help filmmakers create stronger images, bigger ideas, and more professional looking work with the resources they already have.
