About this Event
How can authors ethically use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to brainstorm story ideas, overcome writer’s block, generate preliminary edits, and create marketing materials? Neil Plakcy, author of over 60 published novels in mystery, romance and adventure, will provide an overview of AI for writers, with specific tools and prompts to help authors at all stages of their careers. Neil will also provide a brief look at other AI tools including those for generating marketing graphics, translations, and audiobooks. To learn more about Neil and his books, visit his website at www.mahubooks.com.
Neil Plakcy began writing stories when his 10th-grade English teacher assigned their class the task of rewriting A Separate Peace by John Knowles, from the point of view of Finny, a secondary character. Not only was this a great lesson in POV, but it made an emotional connection for Neil and inspired him to pursue creative writing. He earned an MBA from Columbia University that led to a business career and later an MFA from FIU. Meanwhile, he kept writing and submitting his work. His first published novel was Mahu, featuring a gay homicide detective in Hawaii. Neil has gone on to write and publish books in a variety of genres. His popular mystery series include The Golden Retriever Mysteries, the Mahu Investigations, and the Angus Green Thrillers. Neil lives in Hollywood, Florida with his husband and golden retrievers. He’s a retired professor of English at Broward College. Neil also served as a past president of Mystery Writers of America Florida Chapter. https://www.mahubooks.com/
