The 78th Meeting of the Alabama Historical Association will be held April 9–11, 2026, in Fairhope, Alabama.
The meeting opens on Thursday, April 9, with optional pre-meeting tours and museum visits throughout Baldwin County, followed by a Panel on Writing and Publishing Local History at the Fairhope Public Library and an evening reception at Coastal Alabama Community College.
Friday, April 10, features registration, book sales, a general session, and multiple concurrent paper sessions highlighting new scholarship in Alabama and southern history. The afternoon includes self-guided tours of historic Fairhope sites. The evening concludes with the Awards Banquet, featuring a keynote address by Sonny Brewer, author of The Poet of Tolstoy Park.
On Saturday, April 11, attendees will enjoy additional paper sessions and a luncheon with the Presidential Address by Dr. Matthew Downs. An optional post-meeting visit to the site of the wreck of the Clotilda at Historic Blakeley State Park will follow (advance ticket required).
