About this Event
This is Part 1 of what is hoped will become a series of talks exploring interesting observations, facts, and research about bats, drawn from Jon’s more than 30 years of working with these fascinating mammals. This first talk will include a two-year study investigating the seasonal use of a south Warwickshire church by lesser horseshoe bats, and observations on the use of hanging tiles by bats in Warwickshire.
We will start the evening with a very brief AGM. Non members might like to arrive for 19:45, when we expect Jon will start his talk.
About Jon Russ:
Jon’s interest in bats began in 1994 while he was studying zoology at the University of Aberdeen, where he researched pipistrelle social calls. That early fascination led to a PhD at Queen’s University Belfast, focusing on Northern Ireland’s bats. Since then, Jon has worked on a wide range of bat projects in Scotland, Ireland, Madagascar, Thailand, Ukraine, Myanmar, Russia, and Romania. He has been a member of Warwickshire Bat Group since 2005.
