The Boulder Junction Public Library is sponsoring a Dementia Live ® Event with the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Vilas County on Tuesday, September 16 from 1pm to 3 pm in the Boulder Junction Community Center. Reservations are required and walk-ins will not be admitted.Join us for a hands-on experience that brings understanding of cognitive impairment and sensory changes. You will leave with tools for igniting change in your role as a care partner.
Dementia Live® is an innovative program designed by a team of dementia, sensitivity and awareness, and professional development experts from the nationally recognized AGE-u-cate® Training Institute. Using specialized gear within a safe, structured setting, Dementia Live® provides participants a real-life simulation of what it must be like to live with dementia. Participants gain greater awareness and understanding of the constant struggles (24/7) affecting persons with dementia. Greater understanding leads to more sensitive care partnering.
The ADRC of Vilas County provides supportive and advocacy services to county residents 60 and older and their caregivers, to meet their community needs. The Vilas County ADRC Dementia Care Specialist (DCS) can help educate family members, provide support and connect caregivers to services, and problem-solve challenging situations.
