About this Event
Join your Pittsburgh Park Rangers for an age 50+ guided hike series featuring the City of Pittsburgh’s Regional Parks! This hike series will focus on shorter hikes (under 2 miles) for beginner hikers. All hikes will be a slow-to-light pace with few stopping points throughout! Participants are urged to wear closed toe shoes, wear sunscreen, and pack a water bottle for this hike series. Registration is not required but recommended for updates and cancellations due to inclement weather. Registration opens June 1st!
Learn all about local mammals with Ranger Merna. We will stop periodically on this hike to discuss interesting facts about mammals found in Pittsburgh Parks with an opportunity to pet their hides and examine their skulls. This is a 1.5 mile hike with elevation changes and occasional steep trails and rough terrain. We will be going at a slow pace and with time for multiple stops. Please wear close toed shoes and stay hydrated!
Meet your Ranger: Ranger Merna has been working with the Pittsburgh Park Rangers since spring of 2023. They are a self-taught naturalist with a passion for all things nature. Ranger Merna loves teaching people about wild plant identification and about the creatures we can find in our parks.
