About this Event

Welcome to Afterschool Art Club, a vibrant, inclusive community where artists of all backgrounds come together to grow, connect, and support one another. Works like an open mic, each artist has 10 minutes to discuss their work or ask for advice or whatever they need. Sign-up is inperson and first come first serve. You do not need to reserve tickets to attend!

Critique:

Our critiques are designed to uplift and challenge, offering constructive feedback with care. We believe in providing insights that help you refine your art, like suggesting adjustments for better balance or enhancing the emotional impact of your work. Critique is meant to be a tool for growth, not a platform for unkind opinions. Here, we focus on what can be improved while respecting the vision of each artist. Remember, this is a space where we support one another, not tear each other down.

Community:

Art Club is a safe space for everyone. We welcome all artists, regardless of background or experience. Our club stands against any form of discrimination, including ageism, racism, and anti-LGBTQ sentiments. Every artist deserves to be taken seriously and to create in an environment free from bias and hostility.

Guidelines:

Art Club operates outside the realm of capitalism. This means we don’t discuss money, promote fairs, or talk about clients in our meetings. Our focus is on the art itself.Each meeting will have a monitor to ensure our guidelines are respected. If you’re reminded of a rule, please don’t take it personally—these guidelines are in place to maintain a safe and supportive environment for everyone.Work containing nudity or other sensitive content is welcome, but please be considerate if minors are present. The monitor will decide, by vote or at their discretion, if certain works or discussions are too inappropriate for the club setting.In-Person

Art Club is an in-person club, and we cherish face-to-face interactions. Online discussions won’t carry over into our meetings.
