This reflective lunch invites participants to gather around a communal table, share food, and take part in open, thoughtful conversations about death, memory, and belonging.Talking about death and dying can be difficult, but sharing food offers a gentle and accessible way into these conversations. A simple shared meal creates a relaxed, informal environment that encourages connection, supports meaningful dialogue, and offers a sense of welcome.
The event will be sensitively facilitated by creative arts and health organisation Luna Arts, with discussions guided by food and memory as entry points for exploring mortality.
Following lunch, there will be a talk by textile shroud designer and maker Dagmara Rudkin, who will reflect on the re-emergence of shrouding in Western culture, the role of cloth in memory-making, and both lost and revived rituals surrounding death.
This event will take place upstairs in Meeting Room 4 at Exeter Library. Spaces are limited so please book - tickets are £3, and this will include tea or coffee, and a light lunch. Details TBA for food options, but it will be warm, nourishing and local, with vegetarian options provided.
