Why We Always Want More and What It’s Costing Us
About this Event

Join professor of geogrpahy and geopolitics for Geography of Consumerism: Mapping the Culture of Desire, a thought-provoking exploration into why humans always seem to want more and how modern society has turned desire into a way of life. From evolutionary instincts rooted in survival to the powerful influence of advertising, branding, and social culture, this session examines the forces that shape what we crave, buy, and pursue.

Together, we’ll unpack the psychological and environmental consequences of endless consumption, exploring how consumer culture impacts our happiness, identity, relationships, and the planet itself. This isn’t just a conversation about shopping or economics. It’s about understanding the systems and behaviors that quietly shape modern life every day.

Designed to be engaging, accessible, and discussion-driven, this talk blends psychology, geography, culture, and real-world insight into a conversation that will leave you looking at the world and your own habits a little differently. Curiosity encouraged.
