Τι κοινό έχουν οι παραδοσιακοί χοροί της Δυτικής Αφρικής με τη γιόγκα και την κινεζική αστρολογία και ιατρική;
Εργαστήριο αφρό-εκστατικού χορού για γυναίκες: ζωντανά παραδοσιακά κρουστά και ρυθμοί της Δυτικής Αφρικής, φιδίσιοι χοροί που εστιάζουν σε σημεία του σώματος όπου συσσωρεύεται το τραύμα και το απελευθερώνουν. Ελεύθερη έκφραση και πρακτικές που ενδυναμώνουν και συνδέουν με τη θηλυκή αρχή.
Στις 3 Φεβρουαρίου ο πυλώνας της χρονιάς άλλαξε από τον Ξύλινο Δράκο στο Ξύλινο Φίδι.
Στην ελληνική αρχαία ιατρική αλλά και πολλές άλλες αρχαίες ιατρικές παραδόσεις το φίδι είναι σύμβολο θεραπείας.
Στον Ινδουισμό, η Κουνταλίνι είναι μια αδρανής πρωταρχική ενέργεια που βρίσκεται σα κουλουριασμένο φίδι στη βάση της σπονδυλικής στήλης, στο τσάκρα της ρίζας, η οποία στην αφυπνισμένη της μορφή συνδέεται με το ‘Ιερό Θηλυκό’.
Αυτό είναι το δεύτερο εργαστήριο μιας σειράς εργαστηρίων που στόχο τους έχουν να ενδυναμώσουν και να αφυπνίσουν τη σύγχρονη Γυναίκα.
Δεν απαιτείται προηγούμενη εμπειρία στο χορό. Το εργαστήριο έχει θεραπευτικό χαρακτήρα.

Η Κατερίνα Χριστάκη έχει ταξιδέψει εκτενώς στην Αφρική, μεταξύ άλλων ηπειρων: πολυάριθμα ταξίδια διαρκείας τα μισά εκ των οποίων στη Δυτική Αφρική, κυρίως στη Σενεγάλη, όπου μελέτησε την κίνηση, τις μεθόδους συλλογικής θεραπείας, την κουλτούρα, και τις παραδόσεις των διαφόρων εθνικοτήτων της περιοχής ενώ παράλληλα συμμετείχε σε εντατικά σεμινάρια χορού.
Κατέχει πτυχίο (τετραετή κύκλο σπουδών) στην ολιστική ιατρική (παραδοσιακή κινέζικη ιατρική και βιοιατρική), μεταξύ άλλων πτυχίων, εξασκεί τη γιόγκα και πρακτικές αυτογνωσίας από το 2004 και διδάσκει από το 2012. Έχει εξειδικευτεί σε θέματα γονιμότητας και ευεξίας και διοργανώνει θεραπευτικά και καλλιτεχνικά ταξίδια αλληλεγγύης στη Δυτική Αφρική.
Έχει επίσης σπουδάσει σχετικά με την απελευθέρωση του τραύματος μέσα απ το σώμα (Healing trauma with the body) με τον Michael Stone - Center of Gravity, του Τορόντο.

‘Serpent of Life’
What do traditional West African dances have in common with yoga and Chinese astrology and medicine?
Afro-ecstatic dance workshop for women: live traditional West African percussions and rhythms, serpentine dances that focus on points of the body where trauma accumulates and release it. Free expression and practices that empower and connect with the feminine principle.
On February 3rd, the pillar of the year changed from the Wooden Dragon to the Wooden Snake.
In Greek ancient medicine and many other ancient medical traditions, the snake is a symbol of healing.
In Hinduism, Kundalini is a dormant primal energy located as a coiled serpent at the base of the spine, at the root chakra, which in its awakened form is associated with the 'Sacred Feminine'.
This is the second workshop in a series of workshops aimed at empowering and awakening the modern Woman.
No previous dance experience is required. The workshop has a therapeutic character.
WHEN: on the 9th of March, 2025 at 19.00. The workshop will last for 2,5 hours.

A few words about the teacher
Katerina Christaki has traveled extensively in Africa, among other continents: numerous journeys, more than half of which took place in West Africa, mainly in Senegal, where she studied the movement, methods of collective healing, culture and traditions of the various ethnicities of the region and participated in dance intensives.
She holds a bachelor’s degree (four-year cycle) in holistic medicine (traditional Chinese Medicine and Biomedicine), amongst other degrees, has been practicing yoga and its eight limbs since 2004 and teaching it since 2012. She is specialised in fertility and vitality matters and organises therapeutic, artistic and solidarity travels to West Africa.
She has also studied 'Healing trauma with the body' with Michael Stone at the Center of Gravity, Toronto.
