Sip juice and paint for Kids is an event designed to help children explore Ghanaian and African culture and history through art.
About this Event

Age Group:
2-14 years old (parents/guardians are welcome to accompany).

Activity Focus:
This event will immerse children in the rich culture of Africa through art, encouraging them to explore both traditional and modern Afrocentric art styles. Guided by Kwame Adjei, a talented Ghanaian artist with over 25 years of experience, children will have the chance to express their creativity while learning about African heritage.

Beverage: Sip Juice

Sip Juice is a fun, healthy, kid-friendly drink, such as fruit juice or smoothies, that will be served during the event to keep children refreshed and energized as they paint. The juice will offer a nutritious break while enhancing the experience and ensuring kids stay hydrated throughout the activity.

Activity Details: Painting & Art Creation

Children will paint and create artworks based on Afrocentric themes, such as traditional African patterns, landscapes, people, and cultural symbols. The activity will encourage each child to develop their own artistic expression while learning about the rich cultural stories behind these artistic elements. They’ll have the opportunity to interpret African culture creatively through the medium of paint.

Benefits of the Activity:
  1. Cultural Exposure:
Children will be introduced to African heritage and visual storytelling traditions, learning about the history and significance of various African art styles, symbols, and cultural themes.
  2. Creativity & Expression:
The activity promotes self-expression through painting, allowing kids to explore African culture and interpret it through their own creative lens.
  3. Motor Skills Development:
Younger children can practice fine motor skills by holding brushes, mixing colors, and applying paint. These activities will help with hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and concentration.
  4. Sensory Stimulation:
Drinking juice while painting adds a sensory dimension to the experience, giving children the opportunity to enjoy healthy flavors as they engage in their creative work.

Interactive Learning:

To make the event even more enriching:

  • Storytelling Session:
Children will learn about the symbolism behind their artwork, including the meanings of African symbols and the history of specific tribes and their art. Engaging, age-appropriate stories from African mythology or folklore will also be shared.
  • Cultural Music:
Traditional African music will be played in the background, creating an immersive cultural atmosphere that enhances the painting experience.

Materials Provided:

All materials necessary for the activity will be provided, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone:

  • Non-toxic, Washable Acrylic Paints:
Available in a variety of vibrant colors, safe for children and easy to clean.
  • Canvas:
Each child will have their own canvas to paint on and take home as a keepsake.
  • Paintbrushes:
Various sizes will be provided, from small detail brushes for younger children to larger brushes for older children.
  • Aprons:
To protect clothing from getting messy with paint.
