A reimagining of the shared musical lineage between West Africa and Cuba.
Africubismo is an immersive musical journey across the Atlantic, mapping the shared rhythmic DNA between West Africa and Cuba through virtuosic performances and deep listening. Presented by Stani Goma (PBS' Flight 1067 to Africa), experience the intricate interplay between kora, bass, saxophone, and percussion – where cascading West African harp lines meet the polyrhythmic pulse of rumba and son, and contemporary improvisation bridges past and present.
This is not a reconstruction but a reimagining, a living conversation shaped by four master artists at the height of their craft. Through original compositions and spontaneous interplay, Africubismo reveals the cyclical movement of music, culture, and spirit between continents.
