🚂 The Afghan Express – Full Day Heritage Rail JourneyPort Augusta ⇄ Quorn Return
Step aboard a piece of Australian history and watch the ancient Flinders Ranges landscape unfold before you on this unforgettable full-day return journey from Port Augusta Railway Station to Quorn.
Following the original Ghan route, you’ll travel across sweeping red earth and bluebush plains as the Flinders Ranges rise ahead. Then journey through the spectacular Pichi Richi Pass, with its rocky outcrops, dry creek beds and timeless, rugged beauty.
The Afghan Express takes its name from the early passenger trains that travelled this very line. Wherever possible, your journey will feature original Ghan steam locomotive NM25 and authentic timber-bodied carriages from the late 1920s. On some dates, services are hauled by one of our historic Ghan diesel locomotives.
