Join Ranger Adam for a walking tour of Affricanna Town, the now vanished free village of the formerly enslaved near Dunbar Cave. In the last years of the American Civil War, people fleeing slavery sought refuge behind Union Army lines. Thousands of refugees came to Clarksville between 1863 and 1865. Some refugees created autonomous communities where they lived in freedom for the very first time - like Affricanna Town which existed near Dunbar Cave.We will meet at the Visitor Center. This tour lasts approximately 1 hour, about a half mile in length outdoors on paved surfaces.
