Affirmations in Motion!
Free Beginner Contemporary Dance Class for Adult Women
Affirmation in Motion is a welcoming movement experience for adult women that blends contemporary dance with self-reflection and creative expression.
Participants will explore self-generated movement inspired by their own words of affirmation, transforming personal reflections into expressive choreography. The class emphasizes self-care, body awareness, and sisterhood, creating a supportive space for women to reconnect with their bodies and creativity.
No prior dance experience is required—all levels are welcome.
The class is led by Bronx-based choreographer and 2025 BRIO Award recipient Tiffany Mellard.
Come move, reflect, and build community through dance. Bring a friend or two to join! The more the merrier.
About the Teacher
Tiffany Mellard is a Bronx native, performing artist, choreographer, teaching artist, and arts advocate. She began her formal dance training at Mind Builders Creative Arts Center, continued at the Harlem School of the Arts, Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, Norte Maar Conservatory of Dance, and the American Dance Festival. She holds a BFA in Dance from Florida State University and an Ed.M. in Arts in Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education. Theater performance credits include: Hamilton: An American Musical (National Tour), Memphis (Gateway Playhouse), Chicago The Musical (National Tour), and West Side Story (International Tour). Additionally, she has performed works by Yara Travieso, Nathan Trice/ RITUALS, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Gerri Houlihan and more. Choreography credits include: Woo Woo Child (Soho Rep) and BAAD!Ass Women Dance Compilation (BAAD! Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance). Television credits: The Gilded Age (HBO), The Jimmy Fallon Show. Tiffany is a dance teaching artist with the Misty Copeland Foundation, New York City Center, Brooklyn Ballet, and on faculty at The Dalton School. She is a 2025 recipient of the BRIO Award (Bronx Recognizes Its Own) from the Bronx Council on the Arts.
