AET and dadageek present: Live in the LIM

The Department of Arts and Entertainment Technologies at The University of Texas at Austin and dadageek are teaming up to bring you an intimate performance series that combines experimental electronic musicians and cutting-edge technology inside AET’s Lab for Immersive Media. Join us on a journey where music and technology converge to create unforgettable multimedia experiences.

The first iteration of Live in the LIM will feature experimental electronic musician Xuiqen and dancer Laura Price, whose movements will be captured using motion capture technology, with the data dynamically influencing Xuiqen's music and live visuals.

The LIM, AET’s newest space for innovation and creativity, is an interactive and immersive media laboratory that enables novel research and entertainment experiences in virtual and physical spaces.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Xuiqen

Xuiqen (aka Aaron Wharton), an AV performance artist + musician, integrates MIDI + CV to connect projection art with hardware synthesis through Max-MSP. His work explores emotive and unconventional meter compositions, a genre he terms “Interpretive Dance Music”.

Laura Price

A passionate dancer and performer, Laura Price has been performing with The GoGo Gadgettes dance team in Austin for over 12 years and currently takes the stage at The Concourse Project. Her movement explores transformation, contrast, and resilience, often incorporating improvisation and musicality to deepen the emotional experience. For the past five years, Laura has also been immersed in The Gene Keys, eventually becoming an official Gene Keys Guide. This exploration of human potential is woven into her artistry, shaping the way she approaches dance, music, and painting as a process of uncovering hidden gifts within life’s challenges. Laura is currently focused on expanding creative expression through performance, collaboration, and continuous evolution.
