This event has been elevated to Full Alert - National Call to Action. Advocating on Behalf of Houseless Community, a segment of society which consists of multiple economic levels of people, from those addicted, and mental illness to various workers between low & middle-income wage earners. Houselessness expands across all geographic economic atrocities resulting in great numbers of housing inaffordability.
And as much as the city and non-profits claim success stories, there are twice as many unsuccessful stories of people re-losing their public housing due to corrupt private landlords and unaffordable rents and constantly being swept from various pockets of minimal stability an unsheltered person can obtain in different locations of the city revealed by the Close to Home Police Monitored Yearly Point in Time Count.
Our City Council and Mayor have endorsed Erik Walsh's proposal of committing severe levels of Human Sweeps and not doing anything to help people with their immediate, housing or shelter needs. Instead, this City has lured our community Artists and enlisted Parks and Recreation in creating some of the most hostile architecture targeting the Unhoused Community resulting in harming pregnant women, and senior citizens and even worse violating the American Disabilities Act. Furthermore, the city council has deferred the community to unsafe places mainly public libraries where the Board of the San Antonio Public Library system has installed SAPD officers.
