COURSE DESCRIPTION
Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses® (ATCN®) is an advanced course designed for the registered nurse interested in increasing his/her knowledge in management of the multiple trauma patient. ATCN® was developed to teach established standards of care and practical, life-saving skills.
The ATCN® course is taught concurrently with ATLS®. This allows physicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses to have the opportunity to share a common language and approach to trauma care.
This a two day course that includes didactic presentations coupled with practical skills stations and moulage assessment stations which demonstrate the application of the didactic information.
Didactic Lectures: Initial Assessment & Management of Patient, Airway & Ventilatory Management, Shock, Abdominal Trauma, Thoracic Trauma, Trauma in Women, Trauma in Extremes of Age, Head Trauma, Spine Trauma, Musculoskeletal Trauma, Secondary Survey, Burn & Cold Injury, Transfer to Definitive Care
Skills Stations: Initial Assessment & Management, Airway & Ventilatory Management, Pediatric Trauma, Hemorrhagic Shock, Musculoskeletal & Spine Trauma, Head Trauma
TARGET AUDIENCE
Recommended for emergency/trauma and critical care nurses with at least 2 years trauma experience. Previously completed TNCC for ED nurses.

The course will be held at Texas Children's Hospital Feign Center.
