About this Event
YOU MUST HAVE COMPLETED BEGINNER SURVIVAL: FOUNDATIONS I & II (during any year) BEFORE REGISTERING FOR ADVANCED SURVIVAL.
Advanced Survival is designed for participants who have already built strong foundational skills and are ready to apply them in more demanding, realistic environments. These sessions emphasize independence, leadership, adaptability, and problem-solving under pressure.
Rather than introducing basic concepts, Advanced Survival focuses on applying prior knowledge in dynamic scenarios. Challenges are more physically and mentally demanding, require greater teamwork and communication, and may involve time constraints, resource limitations, or evolving situations.
Participants may register for Advanced sessions in any order after completing both Beginner Survival sessions. Each Advanced session offers a distinct focus and new challenges, and returning participants are encouraged.
Thursday, July 2nd - Advanced Survival: Resourcefulness
When resources are limited, creativity becomes the most important survival skill. Participants learn how to solve problems using what’s available in the natural environment — building fire from minimal materials, creating cordage from plants, improvising tools, and exploring ways to secure water and food. This session emphasizes experimentation, ingenuity, and hands-on challenges that reward creative thinking and persistence.
This program runs from 9:30am-2:30pm and will meet in St. Francis Hall in the main CEC Neu Building. (see map below)
This program is open to anyone 9-16 years old who has completed Foundations Levels I & II (during any year). Please note: we do not make exceptions to the minimum age requirement.
