Lecture Topic: Neck and Upper limbs
- Selected orthopedics cases
- Discussion on integrated patient assessment and treatment management
- Hands-on practice on assessment, needling, manual therapy techniques, exercise, etc
This advanced course assumes prior knowledge in the basics of Orthopedic/Neurologic evaluation and acupuncture for musculoskeletal conditions. Through this course, participant will be able to build a system that enabling them to reference and acquire confidentiality in assessing, diagnosing, treating, and referring the patients with pain related issues. In this course, a better communication skill regarding the problem identification, clinical findings and treatment management that can be easily understood by the patient and other healthcare professionals will also be developed.
By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
- Use and recognize more common orthopedic tests especially to spinal related conditions.
- Understand when to treat, when to refer, and when to do both.
- Communicate clearly, comprehensively, and confidently with patients and other healthcare practitioners.
Instructor: John Ellis, LAc, CMT, CPT, Pn1
John Ellis L.Ac., CMT, CPT, PN1, is an expert in acupuncture, orthopedics, tui na therapy, fitness, nutrition, and health coaching. From 2003 to 2006, he served as an assistant instructor at ACTCM and later became the lead Tui Na instructor. He trained under Rocky Wang, L.Ac., and completed a 300-hour orthopedics program at Cedars Sinai. Certified as a personal trainer by NASM in 2013, John also holds certifications in corrective fitness and nutrition. In 2020, he became a Precision Nutrition Health Coach. Since 2004, John has run a private practice focusing on pain management and lifestyle medicine. He joined Crossover Health at Meta in 2016 and became a professor in the AIMC Doctoral Program in Orthopedics in 2023.
Student Participation Statement: Per the California Acupuncture Board, non-licensed students may not needle during CEU classes even with licensed AIMC supervisors present.
Attendance Policy: Per the California Acupuncture Board, participants are required to attend the entire class in order to obtain CEU credit per the policy of the California Acupuncture Board.
