About this Event
Knowing your place in the wild is the difference between being on a hike and being lost. Even if things go south, it only becomes an emergency if you don’t know where you are, how you got there, and how to get out. Land nav is the skill that makes the difference. A critical competency of infantry units, search & rescue teams, and expeditionary groups, a working knowledge of land navigation is arguably the strongest pillar of confidence in the wild. But if you’re an outdoor professional or hardcore adventurer, a basic introduction won’t cut it. You need to challenge yourself, and go beyond the essentials.
Here’s what you’ll learn in this weekend course:
- How to keep your bearings on extended routes
- Nighttime land navigation
- Finding terrain features through intersection and resection
- How to navigate if you’re missing a map, compass, or both
- Plotting points using a variety of methods
- Utilizing different grid readers, and how to make your own
- Unit and datum conversions
- Counting pace on extreme terrain
- Competitive events and timed stages to amp up the challenge
And here’s what else you’ll get:
- Hot, home-cooked meals throughout the course to keep you going
- Individual attention from expert instructors to help you meet your goals
- Email support after the course to answer questions
- 10% off all compasses and navigation supplies in the SARCRAFT Outfitter Store
When you’re operating in the field, knowing where you are is the last thing you need to worry about. This is professional-grade land nav training for when it really counts. Come find your way.
