About this Event
Clinician trainers from the Contraception Mentoring Program will conduct a 2-hour hands-on practicum on IUD skills. We will use pelvic models to practice inserting and removing different types of IUDs. Our clinicians will also review managing challenges related to IUDs, and will be happy to answer any questions related to contraception during or after training. Participants will receive 2.0 CME credit hours at no cost.

Pain management and paracervical block
Challenging IUD placements
Managing vasovagal response and perforation
Difficult IUD removals

Requirements for participation:
Licensed clinicians proficient in uncomplicated IUD placements and removals
Objectives
1. Discuss pain management options for IUD placement and removal, practice hands on paracervical block skills.
2. Discuss management of vasovagal response during IUD placement and removal.
3. Discuss challenging IUD placement and practice skills including use of cervical dilators, os finders, and vaginal wall retractors.
4. Discussed difficult IUD removals and practice skills including managing missing strings with cytobrush, alligator forceps and string retrievers.
