About this Event
Leroy will guide students through making a basic horseshoe, educate them about different types of horseshoes and share his experience in moving metal quickly and efficiently.
Leroy "Doc" Daines moved to Mt. Charleston, NV, in 1969, where he and his family owned the Mt. Charleston Riding Stables. At a young age, he was the family farrier, shoeing and maintaining the hoof health of their working horses. In his mid-twenties, he entered his first farrier competition which consisted of four forging classes and a live shoeing class. He continued to compete in farrier contests for the next twenty years, and in 2005 he completed all test and forging requirements of the American Farrier's Association (AFA) to earn his Certified Journeyman status. Leroy has participated in countless forging clinics as well as hosting many clinics himself. He continues to work as a farrier in the Las Vegas area and is committed to the education of new farriers and the hoof health of his clients.
