Friday 27th of march 5.45-6.45pm
https://www.theyogastudiocarlisle.co.uk/event/advanced-yoga-workshop-carlisle-cumbria/
The peak park of most classes involve 5-10 minutes of working on something “advanced” such as an arm balance, inversion, deeper stretch such as leg behind the head or perhaps a tricky bind.
Welcome to an hour of peak practice! Whilst Emma strongly dislikes the term “advanced asana” as she believes there is no better or worse in a yoga practice- however she does agree there are certain postures/ movements that are harder than others to practice.
This workshop isn’t about doing “the advanced stuff” it’s about cultivating a deeper awareness of your own body whilst maintaining a calm and steady mindset during practice.
Think of how relaxed you feel in your most favourite posture…. Can you bring that into practice when doing an asana you find much more challenging? Yoga begins when we want to get out of a posture- so let’s dig deep & find calmness in challenge!!
The workshop will start with a fiery vinyasa flow, carefully chosen movements to really warm up the body to prepare the joints, muscles & mind for what’s next!
Emma will talk you through ways to stabilise through all the movements and of course options will be offered throughout the workshop.
It’s not about getting the asana, it’s about finding your way with challenge and surrendering to it to bring liberation & freedom!
Examples of what we will work on will be-
Inversions- headstand, forearm balance & handstand
Leg behind the head postures
Deep binds & twists
Arm balances & transitions in/ out of a pose
Props will be offered out so you can find your way into these postures with support if needed. As long as you’ve practiced some form of vinyasa yoga before & you fancy a challenge- come along!
Expect to work hard, try new things & be open to the endless possibility of yoga asana!FREE for ALL members
