Join Dallas-based artist and painting educator Juliana Crownover as the DMA, along with museums all over the world, celebrates the 200th birthday of Frederic Edwin Church. The creator of one of the DMA's most beloved and iconic artworks, The Icebergs, would turn 200 on May 4, 2026. As part of the worldwide celebration, we are creating a unique opportunity to learn more about Church and his artwork during a private curator-led tour at the Museum followed by an artist-led workshop where you will create your own version of The Icebergs. The class will explore the magic of complementary colors—how to mix luminous grays and make colors truly sing. Using a limited complementary palette, you’ll paint your own interpretation of The Icebergs and gain color insights you can carry into future artworks. 10:00 a.m. - Private tour before the Museum opens to the public
11:00 a.m. - Workshop begins in Founders Room on Level 2
12:30 p.m. - Group lunch (lunch, snacks, and drinks included)
1:00 p.m. - Workshop resumes
3:30 p.m. - Workshop concludes
