About this Event
Over 150 years ago, impressionism shook the art world. Artists began to use short brushstrokes, pure, unblended colors, and novel use of light which were not common. These “radical” techniques translate nicely to oil pastels. After reviewing basic techniques of oil pastel and examining examples of impressionist art, we will create an impressionist landscape.
What to Expect:
• Review of fundamental oil pastel techniques.
• Study of impressionist works to inspire your approach.
• Hands-on creation of a layered, vibrant landscape.
Class Highlights:
• Learn to capture light and atmosphere with pastels.
• Experiment with texture and color in an expressive style.
• Gain confidence with oil pastel techniques for advanced projects.
Materials Provided.
Class is taught by Ken, a Hyatt’s staff member.
