Participants will create layered, abstract compositions using found objects, papers, fabrics, and unconventional textures like coffee, tea, and sand, combined with acrylic paint. This workshop encourages improvisation, intuition, and experimentation, letting artists of all levels discover new ways to tell stories through materials and texture.
Catherine Baumhauer is a mixed-media painter based in Asheville whose work explores texture, color, and the emotional resonance of materials. Drawing inspiration from urban and natural landscapes, Catherine combines traditional and unconventional techniques to create layered, immersive paintings. She has exhibited widely and is passionate about teaching art that encourages intuition, experimentation, and personal expression.
