Purpose: To equip professionals and volunteers who work directly with vulnerable adults with the knowledge and skills to identify, respond to, and prevent abuse or neglect.

- Legal duties under the Care Act 2014 and other UK legislation.
Recognising Abuse:
- Types of abuse (physical, emotional, financial, neglect, etc.).
- Risk factors and signs of abuse or neglect.
- Who may be more vulnerable to harm.
Safeguarding Principles: The six key principles: Empowerment, Prevention, Proportionality, Protection, Partnership, and Accountability.
Responding to Concerns:
- How to report suspected abuse.
- The role of whistleblowing.
- Supporting safeguarding enquiries.
Maintaining Dignity and Respect:
- Promoting person-centred care.
- Balancing safety with individual rights and choices.
Practical Application:
- Real-life scenarios and case studies.
- How to act confidently and responsibly in safeguarding situations.
