Join us at Screen417 in Rome, Georgia on April 17, 2026, from 6:30–9:00 PM for a special evening with 𝐴𝑑𝑢𝑙𝑡 𝐿𝑖𝑓𝑒 𝐿𝑎𝑏, an interactive film installation exploring the everyday challenges of adulthood through invention, creativity, and collaboration.
𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥
𝐴𝑑𝑢𝑙𝑡 𝐿𝑖𝑓𝑒 𝐿𝑎𝑏 is a fictional invention laboratory explored through filmed scenes featuring handmade inventions designed to rethink everyday challenges. Part short film and part interactive installation, the project has grown through collaborations with artists, crafters, and community members in Finland and Rome, Georgia.
The installation is the result of a 3½-year multidisciplinary collaboration between Turku, Finland and Rome, Georgia exploring a simple question: what if the heart were an engine of invention?
The project looks at imaginative (and sometimes ridiculous) ways people invent tools to move through the drudgery and unsolvable parts of adulthood.
Visitors will watch filmed scenes of people sharing their “adulting” struggles and testing handmade inventions designed to solve them. The inventions themselves will also appear throughout the space, inviting guests to observe, guess the challenge behind each invention, and imagine their own solutions.
