Adult Camp: Abstract Clay: July 27-31, 9 AM-12 PMLoosen up, dive in, and let the clay lead the way in this energizing morning camp designed for adults of all experience levels. Whether you’re brand new to clay or looking to break out of rigid techniques, this camp invites you into a more intuitive, experimental approach to making.
Throughout the week, you’ll explore hand-building methods such as coiling, slab construction, and additive sculpting while focusing on abstract forms, texture, and surface design. Instead of striving for perfection or functionality, we’ll emphasize process, movement, and personal expression—allowing unexpected shapes and ideas to emerge naturally. Prompts and demonstrations will help spark creativity, but there’s plenty of room to follow your own instincts and curiosities.
Participants will experiment with carving, layering, mark-making, and incorporating found textures to create dynamic, one-of-a-kind pieces. We’ll also explore how scale, balance, and negative space can transform simple forms into expressive works of art.
This camp fosters a relaxed, supportive studio environment where risk-taking is encouraged and “mistakes” often lead to the most exciting discoveries. You’ll leave with a collection of abstract ceramic pieces and a refreshed, more playful approach to working with clay.
Open Studio access is included this week only on Tuesday and Thursday evenings until 9:00 PM, giving you additional time to expand on your ideas, refine your work, or simply enjoy more time in the studio at your own pace.
Come get messy, stay curious, and see what unfolds.
