Support the Friends of Wellington Botanic Garden and grab yourself a bargain. We’ve kept the plants we need for propagation, but we have many healthy plants left over that we can’t fit into our nursery. That’s where you come in – take home one of our plants and help the Friends fundraise to go beyond the basics with amazing new features like exterior landscaping and internal fixtures for the renewed Begonia House. These plants are from the display end and thrive in indoor conditions (they are coming from a glasshouse after all). They should do just fine in your house. Have too many house plants? Wrong. You can definitely fit just one more. It’s for charity after all.
We’ll have some available for loose change and others for a minimum donation that won’t break the bank. Payment by cash or bank transfer only (no EFTPOS). All proceeds go to the Friends of Wellington Botanic Garden to put towards the Begonia House enhancements givealittle.co.nz/cause/the-begonia-house-the-buildings-and-beyond.
Get prepped:
- Share the love! 5 plants max per person.
- Plants come as they are – we practice integrated pest management but you may need to give them a quarantine before joining your other plant pals at home.
- Swap your pot – there will be a station where you’ll swap your plant to a different pot. We need all our A+ pots for our future plants. We’ll be around to help.
- BYOB – bring your own bag or box for transporting your new friend home.
- Early bird gets the plant – no holds.
We’ll post an update in our Facebook event page a few days out of what plants will be for sale. Make sure you RSVP to get notified.
