Get ready for the coolest event of the year! The Adirondack Queer Ice Festival is back. Join us for a weekend filled with winter fun, inclusivity, and celebration of the LGBTQ+ community. Strap on some crampons, pick up some ice tools and ascend the beautiful ice of the Adirondack region.
Whether you want to try ice climbing for the first time, hone your technique, or just meet adventurous queer people, this festival has something for everyone. This event is an LGBTQ+ affinity space where you can challenge yourself on frozen waterfalls in the Keene Valley region. The Adirondack Queer Ice Festival 2025 is all about celebrating diversity, love, and acceptance. Come as you are and be ready to have a blast!
Adirondack Queer Ice Festival is a grassroots organization started by queer climbers who love the Adirondack region. We seek to expand our community and increase queer representation in ice climbing and the outdoors. We understand that such pursuits can be expensive and therefore have partnered with donors and sponsors to reduce the cost. Everyone is welcome to try this exhilarating sport!
This is a free event but we also understand that the logistics of attending still have a cost. We offer scholarship grants to help individuals with a financial need to offset the cost of travel, lodging, and time away from home. Participants will be organized into groups based on experience and go to various climbing sights in the Keene Valley area. At each site volunteers will set up top rope climbs for the group. All volunteers are members of the LGBTQ+ community and have experience in climbing and anchor building but are not professional guides. Coming to the event with belay experience is helpful but not required. All participants are responsible for contributing to a safe experience.
Saturday evening we will celebrate in community. We will hang out enjoy some presentations from queer climbers, cross our fingers for luck in a free raffle and maybe some sweet dance moves to close out the night.
