Adaptive Yoga - Tuesday Evenings at 7pm
Adaptive Yoga classes are designed to help increase our movement and function for everyday living. The class will use several props such as a folding chair, the wall, block, physio ball, strap, blanket, and bolsters to aid in the accessibility, awareness, and intention of a yoga poses while on a yoga mat. Every pose may look different with each student but the intention is the same.
Over time one may find greater mobility in areas of the body which are habitually stiff and underused while building a more stable foundation in problem areas such as the lower back, neck, and shoulder joints from a steady consistent practice. We are only as young as our spine and as we age it is increasingly important to systematically move in all directions in a consistent practice.
Chair Yoga - Wednesday Mornings at 11am
Chair Yoga classes explore the use of a yoga chair as the main prop along with a wall, blocks, straps, physio ball, and blankets to help grow our mobility, strength, lung capacity and confidence. The sessions include gentle movements, body alignment, engagement, body awareness, meditation, and breathing.
It is our most accessible class and designed for students with physical challenges and who may find it difficult to get onto & back up off their mat. Breath work (Pranayama) & meditation is often incorporated into the sessions to help reduce anxiety, increase flow, and quiet the mind. We are specifically mindful of adapting and instructing the poses to suit the students in attendance.
The practice is wonderful for increasing circulation, movement capability, and overall vitality. A goal could be to increase movement and strength to attend a gentle flow or floor based class.
Room temperature around 75 degrees and not heated. We are senior friendly and we offer a special drop in rate of $10 at check-in.
We currently offer Adaptive (Mat) Yoga on Tuesdays at 7pm and Chair Yoga on Wednesdays 11am weekly.
