ADAPTIVE FITNESS LEGION (AFL) sponsors an Adaptive Open Gym free for the disability community every Saturday from 11-12:30pm.
Special thanks to DPI Adaptive Fitness for donating their adaptive fitness gym to us for AFL exclusive use every Saturday.
This is AFL In person group class programming with trainer guidance by our partners DPI Adaptive Fitness
AFL Open gym is limited to 20 total participants
You must reserve your space and complete group class waiver for entry (no exceptions!!!)
First time participants and those who have not participated in AFL programming for 6 months or more must first complete waiver and complete a tour of the adaptive gym before they can be allowed to participate in our programming.
A class participation waiver is required for ALL participants no Exceptions!
Open Gym is a 90 minute period starting promptly at 11-12:30pm with guided adaptive fitness warm ups and adaptive options for all
Use of Standing frames, Harnessed walking, and more apply to this gym time with PROPER CLEARANCE obtained ONLY.
This is NOT individual session times! Our contracted adaptive trainers will work with all in attendance to safely guide workout drills that can benefit you in each section of the adaptive gym
No Early access or entry to gym to use equipment!!!
If class sign up is full please utilize the waitlist system.
Waitlist records participants first come first serve. As soon as a spot opens up for class, the waitlist will activate and send a notice to the first waitlist registrant and so on....
Cancellation Policy...
...Please ensure you cancel your ticket or notify us ([email protected]) if unable to attend within 36 hours or you risk being taken off class list for the month (we want everyone to have an opportunity to join us-Metro Access requires scheduled rides)
Walk-ins are NOT permitted (NO EXCEPTIONS!!!), you must have a reserved spot in this class period time

Inclement Weather Policy
The safety of our participants is top of mind for the AFL. During periods of inclement weather, AFL events will follow WMATA’s MetroAccess schedule (https://www.wmata.com/rider-guide/weather). In other words, if MetroAccess is shut down, AFL events are shut down as well. This is the general rule, but for trainer and participant safety AFL reserves the right to cancel due to inclement weather even if MetroAccess has not canceled service.
Participants will be notified BY EMAIL if the event is canceled. It is important that participants check their email as the AFL has no other means to contact participants and will not be held responsible for participants showing up when an event has been canceled.
