Their palate ranges from heavy effects-saturated riffs to intricate odd meter acoustic melodies. Czonka is an instrumental duo featuring drums, bass, and synths that piles hypnotic, driving beats onto a large sonic palette. They are veterans of the DC post-punk scene (Pitchblende, Imperial China) and have just released their debut album (at czonka.bandcamp.com), recorded by J Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines, etc). Czonka’s music is a high-energy mix of art-punk and prog-rock styles along the lines of Battles, Trans Am, Can, Holy F***, and a little Primus thrown in for fun.
