Actively Anti-racist Training

Art Centre Penryn is delighted to be hosting 'How to be Actively Anti-racist Training' run by Black Voices Cornwall.

Join Black Voices Cornwall in their mission to make Cornwall an Actively Anti-Racist Region.

The training will cover :

· A brief overview of Black British history
· Further understanding of different types of racism
· To recognise acceptable vocabulary and terminology
· To have an insight into what it is like to be a person of colour living in Britain and Cornwall today
· To begin to explore bias
· To discuss scenarios pertinent to the group
· To explore ways for individuals and organisations to become actively anti-racist

Tea and coffee will be provided.

ABOUT THE VENUE

This event takes place in the School Room, which is located directly behind the church building in Penryn Town Centre and which houses our art room.

The large, light art room is full of character and is a very peaceful place to spend a few hours.

This is an opportunity to be part of the first courses in our new venue and to build your creative journey alongside us as we bring these buildings back to life.

ABOUT ART CENTRE PENRYN

Art Centre Penryn is a new creative centre run by the people behind Grays Wharf.

Based on Commercial Road in Penryn since 2019, we have presented many exhibitions and projects. We’re grateful for the fantastic support we’ve received from artists, local people and organisations.

We are moving to the former Penryn Methodist Church and School Room in the town centre, and changing our name, but everything we’ve learned from running Grays Wharf is informing Art Centre Penryn.
