The Schoolhouse Museum is sponsoring in collaboration with actors Antonio D. Charity and Gina Blount Jones a three-day workshop titled “Acting, a Performing Art.” This free after-school program is opened to youth ages 12-18 who are interested in learning more about acting and related fields. The workshop will explore the basics of acting and provide an opportunity to assess participants’ interest in additional learning experiences in this field of performing arts.
Participants will learn some basics of acting. Topics covered will include vocal techniques, sense memory, improvision and script reading. Beyond this initial three-day session, SHM plans to offer additional sessions for participants, which will include more acting classes, public performance opportunities, field trips to the theatre, academic skills development as it relates to acting and career planning and preparation activities.
The instructor for this initial workshop is Antonio D. Charity whose acting credits include work with numerous Off-Broadway theatre companies such as the Negro Ensemble Company, TV credits including appearances on “Charmed”, “House”, “The Shield”, “Law &Order”, “All My Children”, “Bones”, “Sons of Anarchy”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, “NCIS: Los Angeles”.
