ABOUT THE SHOW
Play | 60 minutes
Five stories from the Appalachian Mountains are presented by an ensemble cast in a story theatre/audience participation style.
Jack and the Northwest Wind: Jack seeks the source of the wind and makes his fortune.
The Big Toe: A humorous ghost story like those "jump tales" told around a camp fire.
Old Dry Frye: The misadventures of a dead body around the community with the audience joining in the refrain, "Everybody Knows Old Dry Frye."
Wicked John and the Devil: Six lucky volunteers from the audience get involved in John's successful efforts at outsmarting the devil.
Jack and the Robbers: A popular closing story featuring a donkey, a dog, a cat and a rooster who help Jack in his journey to discover a fortune.
Adapted by Tom Behm. From the stories collected by Richard Chase in The Jack Tales and Grandfather Tales.
RELAXED RULES SHOW - Saturday, April 11 at 11 AM
This particular performance of Tarheel Tales is designed to create a more inclusive and comfortable environment for audience members who may benefit from a less restrictive theater experience. These performances are particularly welcoming to individuals with sensory sensitivities, autism, anxiety, or other conditions that might make a traditional theater setting challenging and will feature adjustments to lighting and sound, freedom to move, and reduced pressure to stay silent and still.
The goal of the Relaxed Rules performance is to make theater accessible and enjoyable for everyone, ensuring that all audience members feel comfortable and included. For this reason, our Relaxed Rules show will be limited to 125 tickets.
ACT! for Youth shows are General Admission seating. Sales tax will be added to all ticket orders. Tickets will be good for any performance during a show run, except there is a special ticket specifically for the Relaxed Rules show. Visit www.wilsonarts.com/afytickets or call 252-291-4329 for tickets.
TARHEEL TALES is produced by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois.
