The Association of Cost Engineers (ACostE) is holding our annual conference at Birmingham City University to celebrate ACostE’s 60th year.
About this Event

Birmingham City University (BCU) will be the ACostE’s 2022 conference venue. The conference is being held over two days, 6th and 7th July and will combine presentations by guest speakers and fellow members. In addition, to support continual professional development, a series of short workshops are available to attend.

Day One

We will be running two tracks of presentations, one focused on the ESG aspects affecting all of our professional lives, the presentations include:

• Taking an evidence-based approach to Net Zero quantification, supporting digital solutions from strategy to delivery.

• ZERO Next_Gen: Forget Roadmaps

• Cost and carbon governance for capital projects

• Portfolio /programme setup using RCF models

• Inflation Impacts Across Infrastructure Project Lifecycles

• Uniclass development advisory board – get involved

• Accreditation presentation

• Apprenticeships and End Point Assessment

• The Benefits of professional registration with the Engineering Council via ACostE

Day Two

Day two delivers real training opportunities with one track of presentations and two training tracks

• Life Cycle costing

• Digitising your Commercial & Project office

• What are we doing to your ACostE

Training Workshops:

• Risk Management Process - making it simple

• What’s in the cake? Sensitivity analysis reveals the inner ingredients of the spreadsheet

• Practical Application of Benchmarking

• Planning and scheduling training session

• Modern approaches to estimating capital projects

• Estimating the cost of software development and maintenance for a complex project.

This ACostE conference is open to ACostE members and non-members.

Birmingham is an exciting, vibrant city with good facilities and transportation links. Our venue is in Birmingham City’s Millenium Point campus, and our conference on the fourth floor overlooks the new HS2 Birmingham Station, which is in mid-construction.

We have a discount arrangement with Aston Universities Hotel and conference facility if you need overnight accommodation. It’s just a very short 10 min walk away, mainly through pedestrianised walkways.

Buses and trains are available, but there is plenty of car parking if you travel by car. There is hotel parking on the Aston University site for those staying in the hotel. Hotel parking needs to be booked through the hotel. If you are only attending the conference, there is a multi-storey car park immediately at the venue's rear.
