About the host:

Aghogho Okpara is an award-winning medical student at University College Dublin. With a platform of over 340,000 people across her social media channels, she passionately advocates for education and self-belief.

Her influence began by sharing her unique journey to Medicine, which involved 6 entry attempts before gaining admission in 2022. Since then, she has excelled in her field, having won a gold medal for research excellence for her childhood cancer research. Despite the challenges she faced prior to gaining admission to medical school, she maintained a strong academic record. She is an awardee of the All Ireland Scholarship 2017, a prestigious award given to only 125 students nationally for remarkably high academic performance. She also graduated from secondary school in 2017 with the highest Leaving Certificate grades in her cohort. Following this, she went on to graduate in 2021 with a First Class Honours (1:1) degree in BSc Biomedical, Health and Life Sciences from University College Dublin. Honourably, she has been named by the Irish Times as a Face of the Future 2020 and marked by RTÉ as a Trailblazer in 2022.

She passionately advocates for health equity and access to education for children from underserved communities. Believing in the power and necessity of representation in order to improve access to education, she often speaks on this subject at institutions, businesses and schools. It was this passion that inspired her to found Achieve with Aghogho.
