Robert Swan will share his firsthand account of a historic moment that helped change the nation. In June 1964, as a young college student traveling through the segregated South, Swan witnessed the "swim-in" protest at the Monson Motor Lodge in St. Augustine, Florida, while his brother Nick photographed the event. These images are believed to be the rare color photographs of the protest. During this pivotal moment in the Civil Rights Movement, the brothers met Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., attended his press conference, and shared lunch with him at the Iceberg Restaurant. These local demonstrations helped build national support for the signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Robert will share his incredible witness of this most 'Beshert' Historic Moment in Time.
