THE ACCIDENTAL COUNSELLOR TRAININGFor Anyone Not Trained As A Counsellor But Often Find Themselves in Counselling Situations By Accident.
As an Accidental Counsellor you are not a qualified Counsellor and you don’t do therapy. However, regardless of title or qualification you are an Accidental Counsellor.
Accidental Counsellors are people who find they are placed in a counselling/mentoring/coaching role by accident, as a result of requests for help from friends, colleagues, clients or others.
THE ACCIDENTAL COUNSELLOR TRAINING will focus on 3 core themes:
-Wellbeing
-Connection
-Influence
Below is an overview of the 3 core themes we cover :
1) Embrace Self-Care and Wellbeing to effectively manage the emotional impact of hearing stories of pain and trauma. This approach ensures that you provide proper referrals and maintain your own mental health.
2) Foster Meaningful Connections by honing your listening skills, allowing individuals to feel genuinely heard and understood. This connection helps alleviate feelings of isolation and loneliness.
3) Empower through Solution-Focused Questions by guiding the conversation towards identifying the "next best possible step" for the individual, rather than offering unsolicited advice. This approach fosters a sense of autonomy and personal growth.
What you'll Learn:
- Accidental Counsellor Model: Boost wellness, build rapid rapport, and communicate influentially.
- Coaching Change Framework: Facilitate positive transformations with confidence
- Referral Guidelines: Spot warning signs and make effective referrals.
- Advanced Listening: Foster an environment where people feel heard and understood
- Goal-Setting: Define the interview's purpose to focus on future possibilities.
- Strength Spotting: Use the 'Exception Question' to unveil hidden strengths.
- Quick Assessments: Determine next steps with the 'Scaling Question’.
