About this Event
Thinking of building an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) at your home? Learn how to design an efficient space that feels larger than it is when Sheri Koones talks with Danielle Dobin, a member of Westport's Planning and Zoning Commission.
Koones' book, profiles 25 of the most attractive, well-designed and energy efficient accessory dwelling units, located from coast to coast in the US and Canada. Each chapter includes information about the type of construction, the major green features, and how it is used. A variety of styles (e.g., laneway houses, garage conversions, stand-alone structures, and ones connected to the primary house) show versatility and ways to blend new ADUS into the architecture of the primary house and neighborhood. The multitude of photos show how these small structures can be designed to look and feel larger than they are.
Sheri Koones is a widely respected journalist and author of twelve books, which demonstrate the best and most efficient methods of building. She is the recipient of the several prestigious Robert Bruss Real Estate Book Award. She has written numerous articles about home construction and has been the speaker at many events such as the International Building Show and the National AIA Convention.
