How do we ensure no player is left behind? We play together, developers side by side with gamers.
Seattle Indies (SI) invites members of the blind and low vision (BLV) gaming community to join us for an afternoon of fun by sharing your favorite games with professional game developers from our community.
Use this event as a chance to get ready for The Games for Blind Gamers Game Jam coming up this February, where for a month blind and sighted creators work together to develop videogames for the blind and low vision community.
Please take a moment to fill out this form prior to attending the event: https://forms.gle/qoCkMLnqhHDJF3Uu7
What's Happening?
Live Gameplay & Observation: We are inviting blind gamers to showcase their favorite titles, so sighted developers will have the opportunity to observe firsthand how BLV players navigate interfaces, utilize audio cues, and overcome or get stuck by specific design choices. We also encourage devs to try the games with their eyes closed, and allow BLV gamers to teach them.
Networking: Connect with potential teammates for the upcoming Game Jam and discuss how to build games that everyone can play.
Why Attend?
For Developers: Move beyond checklists. See the why behind accessibility features and learn how to design with empathy and efficiency.
For Gamers: Share your expertise, influence future indie titles, and show the dev community exactly what you need to have a great gaming experience.
Bring your own game to share and/or enjoy a selection of games provided that have been rated accessible for blind players.
Popular games we have include:
The Last Of Us part 1 and part II
Factorio
As Dusk Falls
Hades
Stardew Valley
Slay the Spire (Developed by community members)
Balatro
Bringing a game is not required to participate.
Snacks and drinks will be provided.
If you are bringing a game to share or have play tested please plan to arrive 45 minutes early to get it set up.
