BAN SOLO
Sun-kissed laid back surf rock shaken with a vigour of Brit Rock, Ban Solo are a genre-bending, mind blowing and captivating ensemble that thrives on the big stage delivering invigorating yet heartfelt music.
Hailing from Brisbane, the quartet was born in the hallowed halls of university as a shared passion for the art of sound, where they crafted a unique blend of laid back grooves and punchy Brit rock. Drawing inspiration, and often being compared to the likes of the Kooks, Arctic Monkeys, Ocean Alley, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Tash Sultana. It’s a sound that’s both evocative and refreshingly original setting them apart as an unmissable upcoming artist.
BOTTLEROCKETS
Bottlerockets are an eclectic 5-piece based in southern Meanjin. Led by frontman Tom Fitzgerald's unique approach to songwriting, with lyrics that switch from wry and sardonic to earnest and heartfelt as easily as the music switches between groovy psychy jams to Bowie inspired piano ballads (and the occasional detour into something resembling country).
This breadth of scope is glued together by the tightness of the band, with an emphasis on musicianship and an infectious stage presence. Bottlerockets are dedicated to keeping audiences on their toes, and making every show a show to remember.
LEFT CASSETTE
Introducing Left Cassette, a 4-piece rock and roll/brit-pop band hailing from Brisbane, Australia. Lead singer Josh Aldred, originally from Liverpool, UK, found his musical soulmate in lead guitarist Trent Lord upon his arrival in 2015 when Trent was sound engineering a show Josh played. Bonding over their shared love for early 2000s guitar music, they were soon joined by bassist Tom Bendixen through a chance meeting working at Suncorp between him and Josh, sparking an instant musical connection. Drummer Hunter Smith completed the lineup shortly after, and Left Cassette was born in January 2024.
With influences ranging from the iconic sounds of The Strokes and Oasis to the electrifying energy of The Wombats and Bloc Party, Left Cassette delivers a unique blend of nostalgia and modern flair. Their debut show, a sold-out headliner at Tomcat in March, marked the beginning of what promises to be an explosive journey in the music scene.
But it's not just about the music for Left Cassette—it's about the camaraderie, and the sheer love of creating and performing together. Known for their electrifying live performances and infectious energy, Left Cassette is set to make waves and leave a lasting impression on any audience. Get ready to experience the magic of Left Cassette—it's more than just music; it's a celebration of mates and the power of live performance.
MY DAYDREAMS
My Daydreams is Kisna and Ashanti.
Brisbane based, they are a twin duo who express their experiences through music. They are inspired by various artists (especially Twenty One Pilots) and derive inspiration from their eclectic music palette, spanning from Dream Pop to nu-metal. Being freshly out of high school, the 18-year-olds are completing a Bachelor of Music degree specialising in Music Production. My Daydreams have both written and produced their own music since the age of 15 and are multi-instrumentalists. With a passion for encouraging individuality, they were inspired to pursue a music career together after attending a concert in 2018. Here, they realised that music is more than arranged sound; rather, it is the result of everything that makes us human. Creating music was something they never intended to do but as they grew older, it became something they needed. As they began writing, words became lines, lines became poems and those poems became songs. It was a way that they could take their experiences and talk about them openly in an environment where there would be no follow-up questions.
My Daydreams was created for dreamers, by dreamers. They emerged in a time when they needed an outlet for their struggles and continue to exist for that exact reason. Everything on the surface is a facade; underneath catchy melodies is their truth. My Daydreams aims to inspire others to take their pain and transform it into something that empowers them.
