Brien has a diverse career spanning Technology Operations, Banking, Enterprise Program Delivery, and Financial Crime. Brien has consulted to several large Australian Banks across a variety of engagements, including AML remediation exercises, AML Program uplifts, Independent Reviews, and Cross-Border payment reviews for AUSTRAC reporting entities across various industry sectors. Brien is part of the ACAMS Faculty (CAMS Certificate) and a member of the ACAMS Australasia Board.

Karwan is a public and regulatory law specialist and a partner at Sparke Helmore’s Government Public & Regulatory team. He has extensive experience in advising government clients across the Commonwealth, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the Middle East on complex regulatory processes and decision making, regulatory review and reform, risk management, legislative and policy development and litigation. His regulatory experience spans a diverse range of domains including international sanctions, biosecurity, agricultural trade, health and aged care, natural resources, professional services and education.

Hugh is the Managing Partner of Hazelbrook Legal and a leading Australian financial services and regulatory lawyer. He is an industry-recognised specialist in financial services, funds, and corporate regulation, and was awarded 2022 Financial Services Partner of the Year and 2022 Corporate Partner of the Year in the Australian Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards. Hugh has extensive experience advising on complex regulatory frameworks, licensing, governance, and enforcement matters across the financial services sector. He is a member of the Law Council of Australia’s Financial Services Committee and a Fellow of FINSIA. Before co-founding Hazelbrook, Hugh spent over a decade in the Regulatory and Funds teams at Clayton Utz in Sydney and A&O Shearman in Sydney and Hong Kong.
Grace Mason

Grace provides AML/CTF and financial crime compliance advisory across banking, gaming, superannuation, and digital finance sectors.
She has deep expertise in designing and assessing AML/CTF frameworks, aligning risk with strategy, and leading transformation in complex regulatory environments.
Before joining KordaMentha in 2022, Grace spent over a decade at AUSTRAC in regulatory, intelligence, and international roles. Grace is a proactive leader who leverages policy and program knowledge to drive outcomes and foster strategic partnerships.
