Doors open at 2:30pmJoin the Acadia University Chorus for their annual Spring Concert, this year entitled "Dancing Tree". Dancing Tree is a captivating set of eight songs for mixed choir and harp that draws upon the poetry of Cornish writer Charles Causley. The work presents a rich selection of Causley’s texts, primarily drawn from his Collected Poems for Children and illustrative of his simple yet evocative style that conveys emotion and connection to folklore while being deeply rooted in nature. Rutter employs a diversity of musical styles and uses his choral and instrumental forces to perfectly capture the spirit of the texts, including the lilting ‘Stone in the water’, the lyrical ‘In my garden’, and the waltz-like ‘Dandelion’.
To compliment our main work, the Chorus will begin their concert by performing three works by Irish singer and composer Michael McGlynn. Best known as the founder and leader of the choral group Anúna, McGlynn's works strive to bring a modern approach to traditional irish music.
Our featured instrumentalist will be Deanne van Rooyen. A marvelous harpist and faculty at Acadia in the Earth and Environmental Science department. Also joining us will be Tyler MacDonald who will add various percussion accompaniments.

PLEASE NOTE: Our audiences have always known the University Chorus to perform in University Hall. However for this concert, we will be relocating to the School of Music's Denton Auditorium. We hope to see you there!
